the gods xi by Donald Kuspit
death is the foundation
of the world,
but you need no
foundation to build
yourselves.
living in silence
in temples of thought
you rise
majestically in moods
of innocence,
your absence
all the freshness
i need,
all the serenity
i could want,
all the wonder
i can see.
the desert of time
blossoms
with passing memories,
but you abide,
pagan cacti
of prickly consciousness
storing up
all the water
left of life.
