Two Decades in the South: A Memoir
by Elizabeth J. Coleman
Through the open
window I heard
a neighbor’s friend
That’s what you get
for living next door
to Jews
A shock
of soft breeze caressed
my baby’s face
Sometimes afternoons
I would weed and drink
iced tea hair
ethnic from humidity
Dogwood blooms
generous as eternity
