in homage to death ii
by Donald Kuspit
bright with shadow,
the skull lights
every inch
of the emptiness.
incarnate
in hollow bone,
truth accompanies
the meanderings
of my wonder,
facing me
at every twist
of thought,
its grimace
nearer to me
than my own face,
laming
my smile
with glistening
silence.
lead the way to the world
beyond words,
peel the rust
of memory away,
strip me
to the bitter bone
of being.
unlock the silence
in stone.
your indifference
is the thoughtfulness
of the cosmos,
wisdom of forgetfulness.
