Housekeeping Haiku
by Max Gutmann
Why clean a week's dust
When, with wisdom and patience,
You can clean a month's?
If several good scrubs
Won't get that stuff off the fork,
What need your mouth fear?
The mop doesn't need
To be immaculate, just
Cleaner than the floor.
If you're not certain
Whether something has been washed,
It is clean enough.
What stain? I don't see
Any stain there. You must be
Hallucinating.
