The sphinx begins its oracles

by Carmen Váscones.
Translated by Alexis Levitin.

The sphinx begins its oracles
enigma
will come with its indifference.
All grow silent before the hidden grieving of the gods
fantasies release their secret
and plunder keeps piling up.

Other work by Carmen Váscones and Alexis Levitin:

  • The sphinx followed the footsteps of the wanderer
  • Enigma anticipates its existence and its deciphering
  • A cloud of sand
